Coaldale is a borough in Schuylkill Co, PA. It was incorporated in 1906 from part of Rahn township and named for the coal industry. Lehigh Coal & Navigation Co. owned and mined most of all the company towns. A log cabin was built on the north side of Manilla Grove Park by John Moser who was one of the first settlers. St. Luke’s Hospital is now located on this site. The state hospital was established to take care of the coal miners.
